VANCOUVER CANADA, JULY 25, 2022 – The entertainment industry’s leading lighting and grip provider, Cinelease, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its newest rental house in Vancouver on July 23rd at a ribbon cutting event, drawing hundreds of filmmakers, gaffers, electricians, and lighting professionals from the region. The event marked the debut of Cinelease’s permanent presence in Canada and the beginning of what the company plans to be a long, prosperous relationship with the Canadian filmmaking industry.
“With 2022 marking 45 years in the industry for Cinelease, we’re excited to finally bring our services, industry heritage, and unrivaled customer serviceto Vancouver’s thriving filmmaking community,” said Chris Rogers, Vice President of Marketing for Cinelease. “We’ve put together an experienced team who understand the nuances of the industry and will offer filmmakers our brand new equipment inventory including the latest technology from the industry’s most revered manufacturers.”
Cinelease has been in the fabric of the film and entertainment industry since 1977, servicing productions across the United States out of a dozen locations, and has more recently begun providing lighting and grip equipment to Canada’s filmmakers in a limited capacity.
“Filmmakers have been asking for this for some time,” said Jeff O’Brien, Branch Manager of Cinelease Vancouver. “The local filmmaking community is set to reach anall time high, so the influx of high-quality inventory made available by this new Cinelease location will be a game changer.”
In addition to its ample inventory, Cinelease is the exclusive provider of Canadian-based LRX lighting products and Cinelease’s reach will make the company’s products more accessible to filmmakers than ever before.
“LRX has contributed to innovation within the film industry for 35 years, with its expertly engineered robotic technology that makes sets safer,” said David Dwight of LRX. “Safety has always been our top priority and Cinelease is making these products more accessible to filmmakers in the US and Canada.”
Until now, Cinelease has relied on shipping to support productions in Canada, but with this new permanent location, itwill be able to offer a stable supply and a consistent flow of new equipment that was previously unavailable.
The new warehouse location was chosen due to its close proximity to studios, stages, and filming locations, with easy access to highways, making transportation of equipment to and from the lower mainland quick and efficient. It’s also situated near a Herc Entertainment Services branch, making it more convenient than ever to serve productions in the area.
With its inventory and wide variety of lighting solutions come Cinelease’s experienced management team, knowledgeable staff, and long lived reputation for unmatched customer service, all supported by parent company, Herc Rentals, a Fortune 1000 company.
“When we welcomed LRX and Dwight Crane tothe team, we knew that marrying the services of these well-established Canadian companies with our industry heritage would create an ideal filmmaking experience,” said Mark Lamberton, Vice President of Herc Entertainment Services.
The debut of this Vancouver lighting and grip rental warehouse will be followed by the establishment of a Toronto location this fall, adding a much needed supply of new equipment to the bustling entertainment market on Canada’s East Coast. As both the Vancouver and Toronto film markets continue to grow exponentially, Cinelease will be there to offer not only premium equipment, but new jobs and opportunities.
Industry Lighting and Grip gold standard since its creation in 1977, Cinelease Inc.’s intent has been to serve and deliver the best in quality lighting and grip equipment, power distribution, grip trucks, expendables and sound stages to both small and large-scale productions.
